Canyons Intermediate Skiing

With nearly half of Canyons’ 4,000 acres designated as intermediate, blue square skiers have an overwhelming amount of terrain to choose from.  Canyons recent base area and chairlift facelift−in 2010− also meant an upgrade in grooming equipment; the resort now boasts some of the best and largest grooming machines on the market. There are few resorts that can offer intermediate skiers what Canyons can.  State-of the-art grooming capabilities, combined with its expansive terrain, spread over nine peaks, allow skiers to full enjoy the whole mountain. The difficult part is trying to ski it all, since there’s just so darn much.

Canyons Intermediate Terrain

With the exception of Ninety-nine 90 chairlift, intermediate skiers can access incredible terrain from every lift. Intermediates can do quick laps on the trails surrounding Golden Eagle, Sun Peak Express and Saddleback Express lifts. Those in search of sustained cruisers should test out runs like Chicane and Sidewinder off the Tombstone Express lift. Upper Boa and Lower Boa off of the Super Condor Express lift is another long, meandering don’t miss Canyons intermediate run. But for more never-ending, gentle runs, head to the Dreamscape or Dreamcatcher lifts, from the top head skier’s left off the lift and ski Twilight to Harmony, which will drop you off at the bottom of Chicane lift. And even longer still, is Pipe Dream to Cascade, which brings skiers to the Timberline lift.

Canyons is huge, spread out and tends to be challenging to navigate for people who have never skied there. A full or at least, half-day lesson may be well worth the money, so you can acclimate yourself right away, and enjoy your vacation skiing and not be glued to trail maps. Plus you’ll probably pick up some ski tips along the way.
