Morzine Ski Resort

This France ski vacation destination is the largest town of all the “Portes du Soleil” resorts, and is located in the center of the 400-mile ski circuit linked by 204 lifts. Choose to ski the French resorts or the Swiss side, one lift ticket does it all. Portes du Soleil ski resort encompasses 13 resorts that sprawl from France’s Mont Blanc to Switzerland’s Lake Geneva. Portes du Soleil ranks as the world’s second largest ski resort, trumped only by Trois Vallees ski resort. 

The town of Morzine is among Portes du Soleil’s two largest resort villages, and the village is littered with quaint chalet-style buildings. A Morzine ski vacation is an ideal destination for skiers and snowboarders who place a high value on a lively après-ski scene. Morzine is home to many bars and discos, so don’t be surprised if you’re wearing your ski gear well past dinnertime. Aside from après, Morzine is namely laid-back and geared towards families. Those in search of more relaxed evening exploits will find plenty of events and activities to attend, including a hockey game or figure skating exhibition at the Ice Palace. Ski Morzine

Like many Alpine resorts, experts and extreme-seekers are best served off-piste, and Morzine ski resort is no exception. However, black runs Point de Nyon and Chamossiere, located in the Mont Chery zone, provide experts with a welcomed challenge.

With a staggering 82 percent of Morzine’s terrain designated as intermediate to advanced intermediate, intermediates are best served on a Morzine ski vacation. Chamossiere offers a lovely collection of red runs, while Mont Chery has some steep groomed runs. Le Pleny area offers a nice mix of terrain, making it a great zone for families. Beginners will find that Morzine’s snow making at the bottom of the resort provides ideal snow conditions. Le Pleney, Nyon and Super-Morzine areas are the best areas for beginners on a Morzine ski vacation.
