Long runs, short lines, great ambassadorsSnowmass is my favorite ski resort in CO. The lines in April are practically non-existent and the runs are super long, wide and diverse. The Snowmass/Aspen ambassadors are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and fun to ski around with. Snowmass Village is fun for an afternoon and downtown Aspen is a short 10 min drive away and offers more dining choices and diversity.
Epic Vacation9 night vacation. Last plane landed due to high winds. So thankful. First three days out were severe clear and warm temps. What better way to start our trip. Then we got 7 inches of snow one day and 3 the next. Epic conditions. Mountain was not crowded and what a treat that was compared to NE skiing. We were 2 blocks from the Village and enjoyed trying the various restaurants. The bus system is spot on and that was great not having to rent a car. A memorable trip and we plan on returning for perhaps a month the next time! Whooohooo!
SnowmassI have stayed and skied at the Snowmass for about 15 years. It is always an enjoyable event. Great mountain good restaurants, and friendly people.
We loved Snowmass and the other Mts.Love the area. Great location to 4 great mountains. Nice village of Snowmass. Fun to walk around Aspen and ski the Mtns. Great apres ski at Venga Venga.
great snow, great mountainNo lift lines, well groomed slopes, outstanding for intermediate skiers, good snow, friendly service.
Three days of skiing intermediate trails on Snowmass mountain.Snow conditions were great, with plenty of excellent trails to keep us busy. Ski Butlers was very good in delivering and setting up rented ski equipment.
excellentGene Taylor---staff excellent as well as equipment
Lynn Britt--dined twice and excellent--staff and food and wine
Best ever family holiday!Snowmass is the perfect resort to ski with children. The ski school and instructors are brilliant and there are so many runs to choose from. Our boys (4 and 7) had a ball - both were riding the village express to the mid station by the end of the holiday. Great restaurants too and the free bus service is amazing!
IncredibleIt was amazing, a lot of rides, perfect for us! We want to go back!
SnowmassColorado's best kept secret, Snowmass is a wonderful mountain for the moderate to expert skier, not so much for the beginner as green runs are very limited. The mountain offers a huge terrain so the skiers are spread out enough that there is rarely a lift line of any significance. Our group prefers the mountain to Vail. The town scene is a little quiet but there is adequate offers of restaurants for any budget.
Perfect for a young familyThis was our first visit to Snowmass and it was perfect for a young family who are beginners/intermediates. Everything is nice and close and provides all that you need. The skiing is fantastic with plenty of choice from Greens to Blacks. The free bus shuttle service to Buttermilk and Aspen is so slick and gives you 3 other mountains to ski on, as the lift tickets include all of them. We were there for 7 nights and skied 5 solid days. Our kids only learnt how to ski last winter and are 6-9yrs old. On the last day we were all bombing down Blue runs together!
What a wonderful trip!!!This our third time to Snowmass and we have enjoyed it more each time we have returned. This most recent time we stayed at the Capital Peak Condos which are located at the base of the mountain. It is only a 2 minute walk to the chair lift and ski school. We have four children and the two youngest attended the all day ski school while the two older boys skied with us.
Let me start off by complementing our Ski.com Vacation Specialist Danielle Leffler that made all the arrangements. She did a superb job at listening to our needs and making sure everything was prefect.
We chose to stay at Capital Peak because of all the amenities. Since we have four children going out to dinner is not always convenient so having a kitchen is a must. As soon as we arrived at the airport Capital Peak sent out a shuttle bus to pick us up which is nice but even nicer was the driver and what he did for us without even asking. As we were being taken to our condo he over heard us talking about going to the grocery store after checking in so we would have some breakfast food for the morning. At that point the driver offered to take us to the grocery store. He dropped us off, took our luggage to our room and then returned and picked us and our groceries up and took us to our condo. When we got to Capital Peak the staff there was top notch and every bite as kind as our shuttle driver.
Our two bedroom condo was beautiful, with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. The furniture was new and the condo was done very tastefully. The cleaning staff did a great job and the hospitality staff was second to none.
When it came to skiing, Snowmass is a great family ski resort. The staff seemed to be focused in that direction. The skiing at Snowmass is top notch. It offers a wide type of variation and levels for the entire family. The chairlifts are quick and the wait even during President Weekend was very reasonable. The ski areas are clearly marked and the mountain staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.
As far as the night life we really can't comment on it. After skiing from 8:30 to 4:30 each day our children were tired. After dinner and a dip in the pool there wasn't too much left in them, which was OK with us as parents because we came there to ski.
In closing we would highly recommend Snowmass and lodging at Capital Peak to anyone. We have used Ski.com for our last Five ski trips and they have done a wonderful job.
Snowmass - Great SkiingMy wife and I enjoyed Snowmass greatly. It offered the most terrain and was easy to get around. Snowmass is very quiet in the evening and if we wanted to do more, all you had to do was get on the free shuttles to Aspen. Very convenient!
Overall a great place to vacation!
Favorite placeSnowmass is a great place to ski. We have now gone 4 years in a row. The mountain is such that whatever the weather you can find a place to ski (high winds at the top ski Alpine Springs). Lots of good resturants, you do not have to go to Aspen to eat.
We loved SnowmassSnowmass/Aspen is one of the must beautfulest places we had ever seen. We stayed at the Silvertree hotel for 5day/4 nights. And the staff were all most helpful. We could not had a better time. Shelia from Grandview, Tx.
Great Place for Kids and FamiliesThis is my second year at Snowmass using Ski.Com. It was a great trip and everything was very well organized. The kids loved the accomodation at Timberline Condo's because of the Pool, Hot Tubs and the ski in/out location.
Great ski vacation! We had never been skiing in the Rockies so this was our first adventure there and it was amazing! We are used to skiing in the northeast with freezing temps and crowded, short, icy runs. Snowmass was such a change. I could feel myself smiling as i skied down my first run. Although our lift tickets were good for all 4 Aspen mountains, we decided to stay at Snowmass all 4 days we were there. We stayed in a slopeside condo so it was just too convenient, but there is so much free public transportation in Snowmass Village that going to another mountain would not be difficult. (We thought Aspen mtn would be too difficult for the intermediate skiers we are and Buttermilk would be too easy.)
The runs are wide open and beautifully groomed with lots of runs and lifts to choose from. The groomed runs are posted at lifts, online, and on the free app. Everyone was friendly and happy to be there. We did hear some complaints that it was crowded (being Presidents' day week), but we really did not feel like it was overcrowded (from what we are used to). Although there was occasionally a short wait at the lifts (apparently there is usually no wait ever), we were still alone on most runs we skied. Many people we spoke to said they had been coming to Snowmass for years/decades and never go anywhere else anymore since it's so good there. I can see myself becoming one of those people.
I wish it were more convenient to fly to Aspen as we had a little trouble both coming and going.
Loved SnowmassSnowmass offers one of the best vacations!!!! Great skiing, great lodges and delicious restaurants in Aspen.
Loved It!Beautiful place,we were lucky with best weather and snow,
great places for lunch on slopes,
Awesome As AlwaysGreat snow, no lift lines, left Milwaukee at 6:00 am and was skiing at 10:00 am. the same day. Have been back four consecutive years and have never been disappointed.
The Cruiser ParadiseI returned to Snowmass in Jan 2011 after a 5 year hiatus. It is better than ever. I love to cruise long wide, steep groomed runs and Snowmass is full of those. They do such a wonderful job at grooming and the new (for me) Gondola and Village Express make it really easy to get to the various peaks fast.
It is a great family mountain as there is terrain for everyone. It is a really large mountain, so there is rarely a lift line.
The resort still lacks a variety of dining places but there is anough variety for a week, and Aspen and its many restaurants is just a 20 minute ride away.
There is no need to have a car if you are staying in any of the mountain side hotels/condos.
I have skied in plenty of places in Colorado and Utah and this is my favorite resort
LOVELYIt was just beautiful. Like a picture.
I loved SnowmassWhat a great week at a great mountain. Loved every bit of it.
Great snowOne of the best skiing spring break trips we have taken. Snow was incredible and timing was great. Got plenty of fresh snow and plenty of nice weather. No crowds.
Great ski vacation, frendly staffGreat set up and resort! Perfect weather and snow, with no lines at lifts and great choice of slopes on 4 mountains!
All made for the best ski vacation in years. I recommend it without reservation.
Excellent - Our favorite ski resortI have nothing but compliments for Snowmass. I was the trip leader for
a group from the Birmingham Ski Club. We stayed at Top-of-the-Village Condos. Our group loves ski in-ski--out. The mountain staff make a group trip leader's job easy. It is hard to beat Snowmass for the wide groomed intermediate slopes and more challenging slopes and beginner slopes are available for all ability levels. I especially recommend Incline Ski Shop for your equipment needs. Just ask for John. Snowmass is always a club favorite and we will be back next year.
Large skiable resort.Easy access from the hotel to the mountain and back. It helps when the weather is as gorgeous as it was at the beginning of February. During weekdays the place wasn't crowded including restaurants. We enjoyed the access to the other mountains, Aspen and Aspen Highlands.
The best resort I've ever beenI have a wonderfull time. Every thig was perfect
Great developments at SnowmassRecent upgrades at Snowmass have helped the mountain a lot. I like the new Tree House ski school and its base mountain location. The gondola and new sheer bliss express quad make it possible to ski the whole mountain with ease. The base area is coming along well. I'd still like to see more eating options at the base, including a breakfast or coffee spot. I think a small general store would be great as well.
Another overlooked feature of Snowmass is the Nordic center at the Snowmass country club. The trails are beautifully manicured and the staff is very helpful, including with rentals.
Lori Wells rocks @ SnowmassI've skied at Snowmass for the last 4 years in January. Arrangements have been handled by Lori Wells at Ski.com and have been flawless. Lori even manages to fix my blunders when I make them. Lori rocks at Snowmass. As far as the mountain goes Snowmass has such a large choice of runs and skill levels everyone will have plenty to choose from. Every year the snow seems to be better than the year before. Already looking forward to 2010.
Loved everything but the priceThe area was beautifull. the access to the slopes and areas was great. They had shuttles that ran every 20 minutes throughout the village. The condo we stayed in was spacious fully equipped and nice. The people were very friendly and helpful. The slopes were beautiful. But this resort was more pricey than other in Tahoe, Utah and even Canada. if going in groups purchase food from walmart or grocery store before you get in the village. If taking a family this is definetly the better way to go especially if going for a week. But i would go again we would just be better prepared. also the lift tickets were pricey and the discount wasnt as attractive for multiple days as in otherski resorts.
Snowmass was our favorite mountainWe had a big group and there was variety for all levels of ability. We didn't get bored at all during the whole week.
Snowmass: Aspen AccessGreat mountain with lots of variety for all levels. Snowmass Village as a dedicated ski destination lacks the charm of a Breckenridge or Telluride, but its easy access to Aspen by free shuttle makes up for it some. We had a condo and wanted to cook some meals in, but the with only one small grocery store and exorbitant prices it didn't save us much money.
Snowmass was fabulousMy first time at Snowmass. I've been an intermediate skier for 30 years. They had a terrific program for Women called the Women's Edge. I actually learned new stuff! My 20 year olds had amazing lesson too. We Stayed at Stonebridge condos and The really frequent busses made getting around so easy. The heated pools/ sauna, chocolate chip cookies and great cleaning staff made the condo the best. So many different places to ski and never long lift lines. I don't remember what skiing on ice even feels like!
Only problem was I had so much fun all day, I never had the energy to find out what the night life was like.
One of Our FavoritesWe've skied somewhere in the West every year over the past 25, and Snowmass is one of our favorites. Variety of intermediate terrain, snow quality/maintenance and staff are definite strengths. The new gondola makes access to all areas of the mountain(s) much easier than on previous visit. Selection of lodging on or close to the slopes is good. And of course proximity to Aspen, but away from the "glitz", is very nice. Completion of the new base area - with focus on kids - should make it even better.
Return Again and AgainWe have skied here several years and intend to return next year if health and wealth permit.
Ahh AspenLuckily, my Ski.com agent recommended I not fly into/out of Aspen airport as the area gets so much snow the flight cancellations were streaming across all of the local TV channels - fly into Eagle instead and take the shuttle. Once you're there you will want to purposely miss your shuttle to go home. From the heated streets and sidewalks to the free bus system that takes you everywhere to the four mountains that have every kind of terrain you can imagine there was absolutely nothing about Aspen that wasn't picture perfect - no wonder the rich and famous go there.
Snowmass is improvingAs far as convenience is concerned, it doesn't get any better than Snowmass. The new base village is awesome. We have three kids and the ski school was top notch. All of the staff is friendly and was very accommodating. There are lots of good places to eat that do not cost a fortune. We stayed in Woodrun Place condos. The condo was classified as "exceptional." We found it to be very good, but the beds could have used some updating. Daily maid service was lousy, but they did empty the trash.
Love Terrace House CondosI absolutely love staying at the Terrace House Condos in Snowmass. They are perfect; especially if you are with a group of people. They are very clean and have all necessary amenities and also very close to the ski lifts.
Awesome placeWell i have been going here for years now and i must say- its the best mountain ive ever skiied. it has so many trails to ride and all the lifts are fast. the instructors are curteous and actulaay teach you(AKA: folg). Teh food ont eh mountain is great and typically there is always snow. the best part is the wide variety of double blacks. there are usually like one or 2 at other resorts but not here.its a great family vacation and a great learners or expert mountain. there isnt anything here that will not satisfy you. the best restaurant is butch's- best seafood around. But its what goes on underground is what gets you. The direstor of ski is the nastiest guy there but nobody would knowit. a few years ago an instructor was REPORTED speeding in a slow zone. The director did not look into it but just went into accusing that the instructor was speeding and fired him. Anyone who knowws the guy knows what i mean. everything is great there but poor central management is the problem. lucky for them they hire great staff.
