    Keystone Intermediate Skiing

The Keystone intermediate skiing, which encompasses 32-percent of the resort’s 135 trails, allows full access to the resorts three lift-accessed mountains: Decrum, North Peak and The Outback. Keystone’s state-of-the-art grooming capabilities make for perfect cruisers intermediate skiers won’t soon forget. Intermediates at Keystone will find they are very well-served. Plus, Keystone is a great ski area for more advanced intermediates to challenge themselves and perhaps try a black diamond run, since there are no double-black or extreme terrain.

    Keystone Intermediate Terrain

The intermediate runs off the River Run Gondola are fun, wide, and long. Don’t miss Sante Fe along the looker’s left edge of the resort, and of course the Flying Dutchman, Frenchman, Irishman and Paymaster, are topnotch intermediate cruisers. Intermediates will feel like superheroes cruising down these wide, pristine runs. Plus, they are among the trails that are open until 8:30 p.m. as part of Keystone’s popular night skiing. The River Run Gondola area can get slightly congested, so be sure to wear a helmet.  To avoid the crowds you’ll want to make your way to The Outback, the area on looker’s right side of the resort. On your way there, from the top of Decrum Mountain, be sure to enjoy the long, meandering Mozart trail.  If you opt to take a run or two on North Peak, be sure to give Last Alamo or Prospector a try. Prospector runs into Mozart and will drop you back off at Santiago Express chairlift. From the top head skier’s right down Fox Trot or Spillway to The Outback. Once you’ve arrived at The Outback, you can spend the whole afternoon carving up the trails off the Outback Express chairlift. Enjoy cruising on The Outback’s intermediate trails: Porcupine, Bighorn, Elk Run and Oh, Bob.

The Outback is also a great area for advanced intermediates to test their skills out in a comfortable way. Off of the Outback Express, head right to Pika, a black run. If you find it’s too challenging, you always have the option to bail out on Lodgepole. Pika ends into a blue run, The Willows, which brings you back to Outback Express.
