About Vail Resort

Vail is all about being something to everyone, which is why it’s such a great ski destination for families. Every level of skiing, every lodging preference and every budget can find its own home on a Vail ski vacation. Skiers and snowboarders looking for incredible views will be thrilled with the scenic vistas of Vail’s Gore Range, and restaurant-goers can find everything from Iron Chef foodie-fare to down-to-earth pub food and New York City-quality pizza.

Ski Vail

As North America's fourth largest ski area (behind Whistler, Park City Mountain Resort and Big Sky Resort), Vail's terrain will please every level of skier or snowboarder. The resort's vast 5,289 acres offers wide-open, pristine bowl skiing, a plethora of meandering intermediate trails, multiple beginner areas and plenty of steep and deep terrain in the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin to keep expert skiers satisfied.

The beginner skiing at Vail is found all over the mountain, providing novices and first-timers with breathtaking views they won’t soon forget. Vail beginner skiing can be found from all three base villages: Golden Peak, Vail Village and Lionshead Village. Gentle traverse trails allow beginner skiers to explore nearly the whole entire front-side of the mountain. But, at its heart, Vail is an intermediate to advanced intermediate skier’s paradise from the famed Back Bowls wide-open, groomed runs to the many zippy runs off of the Mountaintop Express lift and long, sustained cruisers like Simba and Born Free. Blue Sky Basin is an expert skier’s playground, with cornice drops, leg-burning mogul runs, trees and open powder fields.

Excellant ski Mountain with all the skiable terrain anyone would want.

The Vail Mountain provided us with superb skiing for 3 days early Feb. All personnel were quite professional and eager to help.

Niiiiice

Vail mountain is large because of Back Bowls and Blue Basin. Staff is courteous and slopes well groomed.
Lodging and restaurants are expensive but worth the cost as everything was high quality.
We will definitely be back.

Vail's The Best

It has probably been 15 years since I last skied Vail and it's been way too long. Vail of course, has grown by leaps and bounds over that time, and although it is still pricey as ever, we were completely impressed by everyone with whom we came into contact. Whether it was the ski shop, the lifts, the restaurants or the shops, everyone was helpful and did their very best to make our stay as easy and enjoyable as possible. We had a mixup with our accomodations and ended up staying the first night in Vail Village and the rest of the time in Lionshead, but everyone involved made the transition from one location to the next a breeze. The mountain is fantastic and still my favorite of all ski mountains; so much terrain with so many options.....there may be times when Vail has a lot of people on the mountain, but I have never seen a resort move so many people, so quickly up the mountain. We skied all over the mountain and never had a single problem. Kept looking for Lindsey Vaughn, but dang, couldn't find her. Vail is the best!

Remarkable, Breathtaking, Real Life Christmas Village

This was our first trip to Colorado ski country and we could not have been happier with our choice! Vail is so beautiful, the resort town is a tail of two halfs, Vail Village and Lionshead Village connected by a free bus service. We stayed at the Lodge at Lionshead, which is a full service lodge, with daily maid service to make beds freshen up and replensh towels. Our condo at the lodge was wonderful! We got everything we requested (2 bedrooms, washer/dryer, full kitchen, dish washer, and fireplace). The lodege provides ski and board storage, and is no more than 150 yards from the Gondola! This was a big deal for our family because not everyone wanted to spend the entire day on the mountain. The people of Vail could not have been more accomodating. We vacationed early in the ski season, and guests seemed to be limited, which made the local businesses (ski shops, resturaunts, etc) very eagar to earn our business with very attractive discounts, and even free lessons. The staff at Performance Sports (located in Lionshead Village) rented us skis and snow boards, and allowed us to interchange from one to the other anytime we wanted to change! Great people at Performance Sports, The owners name was JP, and his staff was wonderful!

From the bus drivers, to the waiters, to the snow patrol at the very top of the mountain, every person we encountered in Vail was exceptionaly polite! We can not wait to go back to Vail!

Great time

My family and I had a great time at Vail when we went last month.
Last year we went to Tahoe, which was also nice, but we wanted to find some place new this year.
We actually read about Vail on Findthebest.com, which has a Ski Resorts App that compares hundreds of ski resorts including Vail. http://ski-resorts.findthebest.com/. The resort was very accessible, was good for families, the lift tickets were reasonably priced and I would definitely suggest it for families as well as for groups of friends.

A fun, romantic rendez-vous spot!

My husband and I had a wonderful week at the Lions Square Lodge at Vail. Wow! When the agent at Ski.com said she reserved us a one bedroom mountain view condo, she wasn't kidding! Truly gorgeous and relaxing! Grilling dinner on our balcony in the evening, we could see the headlights of the night skiers....very cool! The staff at the Lions Square Lodge was so kind and helpful. We arrived our fist afternoon in time to sign up for the Lodge's evening grocery store run where we stocked up for the week. However, the first night we celebrated our reunion with dinner at the Chophouse-- a hop, skip, and jump (and a few snow ball throws) away from Lions Square Lodge.

Our ski-in-ski-out location was unbeatable! Well worth an adjustment in my pre-planned itinerary dates to get it. The mountain is huge and really absorbs the crowds well, so the runs always felt wide open.

The Colorado Mountain Express personnel from Denver airport to Vail were also very kind and accommodating--dropped us right at the hotel front step.

The Vail ski resort and the town of Vail continually offer upgrades to the mountain itself, the lodging, infrastructure, free village shuttle service, restaurants, and equipment rental and sale shops. Since there are four base areas to access the mountain, almost all of the ski resort's lodging is either a short walk or very short shuttle ride from the lifts. Non skiers can access the activities on the mountain by gondola so non-skiers and skiers can meet up for lunch or hit the state-of-the-art tubing hill. Don't be afraid to take your non-skier family member(s) to Vail. There is a lot to do on and off the slopes.

The Vail ski resort and I go way back. I started going there when I first moved to Colorado when I was 23. When I worked at Keystone, my co workers and I would have a blast heading over there for a few nights. Vail has always been on my radar and is probably the root of the reason I live here. Longer story... Getting to Vail has always been pretty easy. Fly to Denver and it is 2 hours away by car or shuttle. Or you can also fly to the Vail/Eagle airport and drive only about 40 minutes. Skiing Vail is the reason to go, and they make it easy for you with their EPIC pass, a season pass valid at multiple ski resorts. If you're shopping early, you can snag this from Ski.com for under $500. It is the best deal in the ski industry. Anyway, the chance for a powder day in the back bowls of Vail have to be the best reason to come and visit in my opinion. You simply cannot fathom how wide open, humongous and steep these intermediate level bowls are until you have experienced them first hand. Sure Vail has the village plucked right from the streets of St. Moritz and the countless 5-star level hotels and the best ski shuttle system I have ever seen. But the back bowls are why they built this village in the first place. I recently visited Vail with a group of people and we had a blast. We stayed at the Antler’s in Lionshead and thought it was great. The river is outside the back door and it's a very short walk from the gondola, making it a perfect location. The Inside of the condo itself did not blow us away with its furnishings, but nobody complained and it was very spacious. We saw a free concert, had high-octane après ski and enjoyed a few inches of fresh snow. Hot tubs were hot, pool was warm and we did not get in our vehicles until our trip was over. Could not ask for anything more. Vail is overall one of the best places to go in the country. And even though the skiing is great, you might still find yourself sitting at Garfinkels in Lionshead, having a beer and watching all the people.

Vail has 5289 skiable acres so it is not hard to see why I love it. It is one of my top selling destinations. Vail has plenty of terrain for every level of ability, and an excellent ski school. My clients love the fact that Vail is loaded with shopping (over 100 shops!), an abundance of dining options, as well as a lively après ski and night life in the vibrant town. There are several world class spas and many luxury hotels to choose from. Vail is not just about luxury either. It is a popular destination for families as well, with an abundance of family friendly venues to choose from. Adventure Ridge on Vail Mountain is one of my favorite family activities, where this year they will begin offering night tubing. That is pretty unique in the industry, and the ski biking there also looks like a blast. Call or email me today, and let’s discuss a vacation to Vail.
